Etro
Kean Etro was born in Milan in March, 1964. He studied high in the Swiss Alps in Villars at Aiglon College, then in Cambridge UK, and then back to Milan to study Medieval history.
In 1989, Kean arrived at Etro, the family company founded by his father Gimmo in 1968. He immediately set to work to put in order the information systems of the company, and to pass the initial years of formative training.
He began working on the creation and development of the Etro fragrance division, inspired by the idea of a seventeenth century pharmacy. Today, everything in the division is still studied and developed in house, not under license.
In 1990, Kean started to design his first Menswear collection, whilst occupying himself with all aspects of the company’s advertising and communication .
In 1997, he produced his first Men’s collection – in a new and very different way, using the theory and concept of “New Tradition”. Kean also designed the Women’s collections following the same brand philosophy until the arrival of his sister Veronica in the company. Veronica took over full responsibility of the Womens design division in 2000.
Kean’s energy and vision has taken the Etro Menswear brand to among the top ten brands globally in terms of sell out. With his brothers Jacopo and Ippolito, and his sister Veronica, they share the present of Etro; knowledge of the present is the future of any successful enterprise.
Veronica Etro was born in Milan on 19th April 1974. She studied at the German school in Milan Deutsche Schule Mailand, before going to Central St Martins College of Art and design in London in 1993. Having decided to follow fashion design as a career in 1997, she returned to Milan, and took up a position assisting her brother Kean on the Womenswear design at the family company. In 2000 she took over all responsibility for the Women’s division and showed the first full women’s collection under her design direction.
Today the Etro Company designs, manufactures, distributes and retails luxury fashion and lifestyle products, accessories, fragrances, and home furnishings.
