One of the highlights of the event is the preview party on Thursday evening. It’s comparable to New York City Ballet’s Spring kick-off gala . Both happenings are some of the most stylish fundraisers of the year.

Chicago women can’t wait for the Preview Party, especially after a long Chicago Winter, or in this case, a very early Spring. The who’s who of Chicago strut their stuff in the seasons’ most sought after fashions. Think vibrant florals and high-end designer looks. Aside from fabulous people watching, it’s always exciting to see the transformation of the lush gardens. Colder temperatures don’t mean having to sacrifice style. Bundle up with these fashionable must-haves.

Invest in a coat that’s modern yet functional. Moncler and Prada consistently make chic down coats and Ferragamo had some great ones this season, as well. Etro showed long coats with removable fur collars, which become perfect for wearing casual or dressed-up.

Add life to a darker coat with a colorful scarf. While cashmere scarves are always cozy, silk scarves will keep you warm too. Loewe and Dior make vivid-colored classic shapes or you can opt for a trendy McQueen version.  For another idea, skip the necklace and tie a scarf over a dress or sweater.

For snowy weather, Chloe’s rubber bottom wedge boots are ideal. The buckle detail and yellow stitching add stylish elements and the rubber soles provide traction.  You can also add rubber to the bottom of your favorite boots to improve their life during winter.

Most of us love leather gloves.  This year we saw an update with leather and knit combinations, which are some of my favorites.

I’m thrilled to announce that this February, Neapolitan Collection will become the first U.S. home for Sarah Besnainou’s sensational fine jewelry collection, Eternamé. After I first spotted Eternamé  jewelry in Paris, I knew my customers would fall in love with the line just as I have.

All of the fine Parisian jewelry is created at the Place Vendôme in Paris. Here, Eternamé  is also handmade by top craftsmen and sourced from the highest quality stones and materials. Since each piece is individually produced, no two pieces are alike, even if they are the same design.

Our clients will have the opportunity to meet Sarah at our launch cocktail party on February 2nd. Prior to launching her collection in 2007, Besnainou worked at Christian Dior for seven years. What does Neapolitan owner Kelly Golden consider “the ultimate coffee table topper”? Hint! It has something to do with fashion and gorgeous dresses.

“Neither the price nor the windy city weather could stop Chicago’s fashion set from swooping up signed copies of the book, The Impossible Collection of Fashion, when Valerie Steele came into town last week for a book signing and fashion show put on by neapolitan collection. This book, published by Assouline and written by Steele, the director and curator of the museum at FIT, is truly the grand dame of coffee table books. It features the 100 most iconic dresses of the 20th century, including designs from Charles James, Madame Gres, Dior, Alaia and Alexander McQueen. The photographs are spectacular, especially considering many of these dresses are nearly 100 years-old! The gorgeous packaging alone is worth the hefty price ($650). The fashion show, which featured Fall 2011 looks from Prada, Valentino, Gucci, Derek Lam, J Mendel, Naeem Khan and others, had many of the same silhouettes and design elements featured in Steele’s book, although looks from the sixties and seventies dominated the show.  The color scarlet was a big theme in the show, as well as lace and embellished elements like feathers and intricate embroideries. Valerie presented her “top-ten” favorites to the sold-out crowd with a slide show presentation and brief history of each dress.  Each one was more spectacular than the next!  So, if you are still searching for the perfect gift, “The Impossible Collection of Fashion” is it!  Only 1,000 copies of the book were published, so it is truly a collectors item.

“My hands-down favorite season for shopping is pre-fall. Not only do the pieces from these collections take you all the way through to spring, but they can also be worn immediately. And in the world of fashion, there is nothing like instant gratification! I always tell my clients the best time to shop is in July and August, when most of the pre-fall collections have arrived. Lately, designers have started to cater to women’s desire for buy-now-wear-now fashion and put a larger focus on the idea of seasonless dressing. The fabrics are not nearly as heavy and cumbersome as in the past, and they’re designed to pack easily for travel. Within the last few weeks, neapolitan collection has received crepe de chine pieces from Fendi, silk and cotton blouses from Malene Birger, cotton utility skirts from Derek Lam, silk embroidered dresses from J. “As things continue to heat up this summer, grab a LWD (little white dress) to keep you looking and feeling cool.  I think white is one of the chicest colors–it not only enhances that warm weather glow, but also is a great backdrop for colorful accessories. And it’s not just for summer! One of the biggest fashion mistakes I see women make is not wearing white all year.  Once fall rolls around, swap your white cotton dress for a white wool/cashmere.  This light hue was all over the pre-fall and fall collections, from Carolina Herrera and J.Mendel to Christian Dior and Jason Wu.  So this season, ditch the LBD and go for the LWD!”
